Effective December 19, 2008, all public swimming pools and spas must be in compliance with the provisions of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. The Act requires that all suction outlets be equipped with ANSI A112. 19. 8 - 2007 approved VGB covers. If the pool is not designed with split main drains and equalizers (with drains separated at least 36 inches apart) , the pool must have unblockable drains or have a secondary safety device, such as a safety vacuum release system (SVRS) . Many pools do not comply with the new law by merely changing the main drain covers, because the sump below the drain covers must meet the manufacturer's written specifications. In some cases, this will involve modifications and design of a new sump. I can help with these.
In California, a C-53 contractor's license is required to modify the sump.

Dennis built my pool, jacuzzi, and built-in BBQ 2 years ago (January 2007). Before I contracted with him, I interviewed 6 other pool builders. Besides being pleasant and thorough, Dennis was the only one that could answer the questions I had based on problems that my neighbors had experienced when building their pools. For example, Dennis knew what to do if there happened to be underground springs on my property.
Once construction begun, he was involved during each phase of the construction process. Because of his hands-on approach, we had numerous discussions that caused me to make several informed changes to my original pool design. Two years after completion of the pool, I am still happy with it and my experience with Dennis. Finally, it took Dennis' team less time to build everything, including a lot of stone work, than it did for the city to approve the construction plans.
