I bought a home with a pool last year, it had not been properly closed for the winter. I called Vernon pool man with a pool in very poor condition. Over the phone I explained I wanted the pool cleaned and made useable. I was told I needed a partial pool opening, but they very carefully mislead me on what that was. They showed up dumped some chemicals in the pool turned on the motor and left.

They left without cleaning the pool, or even emptying the filters. None of the jets were on, the motor could have burnt out if I hadn't shut it off. For this they tried to charge me $300, even though by their own admission in emails only $70 worth of chemicals were used. These people are crooks, look elsewhere.

I was lied too about the service I would receive. Instead of cleaning my pool by their own admission in an email I received when I complained they did almost nothing, they dumped $70 worth of chemicals in the pool turned on the system without checking to see if the filters where clogged or anything and left. $300. Do not use these peopleif you want your pool actually serviced.

Honest employee. Sold me the chemicals I needed for my pool but explained to me how I'm better off replacing hot tub water then chasing water quality issues with chemicals. They could have easily sold me product to fix the problem but chose to put the customers best interest first. This company clearly looks at long time revenue and is not just out for a quick buck. Customers come back when they know they can trust you have there best interests in mind.

My partner just moved to Vernon ct and we have never own a pool let alone know how to maintain it. The pool was green extremely green and we had no clue of why. We watched some YouTube video and went to vernon poolman to get the necessary ingredients to clean the pool. The lady at vernon pool heard our problems with the pool, explained what was wrong and gave us everything that we needes to fix the pool AND she explained the process, how to do it and the amount that i need to add to my pool. I mean if i can give 6 starts I would've. Thank yooouuuuu

Walter installed our pool 17 years ago. Quality work when a installed and still going strong 17 years latter. If we ever have a problem Debbie and her team are great, from advice over the phone to service calls, always top notch.

We are happy NEW customers of Vernon Poolman. I'm quite impressed with how kind everyone is at the store. I have been greeted with pleasant demeanor and smiles every step of the way. I consider myself very pool-simple. They take time to answer my many questions and clearly strive for customer satisfaction. We don't live nearby- yet were recommended by a friend and appreciate this level of service even if I have to drive a little further to get it. Thank you.

We had called around to a few pool companies who were rude or didn't know what they were talking about when it came to replacing our motor on our pool filter. We called Vernon Poolman, and had the best experience from the initial phone call to having them help us replace our motor the same day. They were nice, respectful, helpful and knowledgeable, and able to replace our motor the same day.

Having recently bought a house with a pool, I was not familiar with any pool company. Vernon Poolman was the company the previous homeowners were using so we decided to give them a try. We weren't familiar with operating a pool and just wanted to observe the opening process. I left specific instructions with the woman on the phone (apparently the owner) about my wanting to be present.

We had a prearranged time, where I would be home and we're all set, until I came home and to my surprise, saw the pool open. Turns out they came on their own schedule, not the time frame we had agreed upon. I called the same woman to find out what happened and nothing.totally apathetic. For an additional fee I can schedule another appointment and have them go over it with me.

Since then, I had contacted them twice more with some general inquiries, including why one of the pumps was not opened. This time I got an explanation. The crew either didn't notice or it was too dark, despite them being at my house on sunny mid day in May. I am now using a different company and am much more satisfied. Incidentally, the local pool supply company where I get my chemicals from was not surprised about my experience with Vernon Poolman, apparently word gets around.

In 2016, I bought a house with a salt water pool Vernon Poolman had installed some years previously. While there were problems with some of the old pool peripherals, such as a non-working heat pump that had to be replaced initially, the products and services Debbie and her staff, particularly her senior technician, Jeff, have provided to bring everything current and keep it running at peak performance has been absolutely outstanding.

Whenever I have called with a problem, Debbie and her staff have gone out of their way to resolve it promptly, with excellent results. I cannot think of any company I would recommend more highly to a friend! They are professionalism personified.

This is the very best pool company I have ever dealt with. I have never met a more knowledgeable friendly staff in any business. Every single one of their employees knows exactly what they're talking about and exactly what products to sell you. Not only are their prices Fair and their service is amazing. One day I came down and had a problem with my pool and after one of the employees got out of work she came to my home to look at my pool. I truly suggest you come and visit this business.

Our inground pool was recently completed and we could not be happier. Walter and Debbie as well as their entire team are excellent to work with. They worked with us in the fall and gave us a great deal that included all the things we would need from start to finish. Throughout the process communication was excellent and every promise was delivered upon. There were no surprises and our pool is beautiful. I would highly recommend Vernon Poolman for pool installation, maintenance or retail product purchases.

We have been using Vernon Poolman for the last 9 years and they installed the pool at our house. We have spent about $ 1000+ per year between openings, closings and chemicals. This year we had to purchase a new pool vacuum. We spent $ 1200 on the "best pool vacuum" according to the owners and they all had one. Two weeks after purchasing it, I called one of the owners to tell her it was not working properly.

She said that is strange, she never has had a problem with hers. Offered nothing. Finally, we haul the pool vacuum into the store last weekend and the same owner is condescending and demeaning to my wife. They send us away with a loaner. Two days later, they send their "tech" to watch both our vacuum and the loaner. He sees neither is working properly.

He calls the manufacturer who tells him some things to try.nothing. Finally, tech tells my wife we may need to vacuum the pool manually, All the while, Vernon Poolman has my $ 1200 I paid for the vacuum in their bank account. I called the store last night and left a pretty curt message. The owner calls me today at 5:42 am and tells me he will have a check to me today and he will no longer service us because "he can't make any money at our address." Interestingly enough, this was after I had provided them support and guidance on a personal family matter involving a loved one. Very short memories for very self-centered people. Goodbye Vernon Poolman.

I rarely write reviews, and never at the time of purchase as something like a pool has to stand the test of time. Vernon Poolman installed our in-ground pool 3 years ago, and I must say that we could not be happier with our decision to use Vernon Pool man. We went to a few places that were local, and other places didn't seem to even want to talk to you unless you had $150k+ to spend on a pool.

I had a pretty good idea of what we wanted, and when Walt came and looked at the property he made some excellent suggestions. When we had a underwater light go bad the second year that was still under warranty they came out and took care of it right away. Debbie and the store staff are super helpful. Bring in a water sample and they set you right up.

Have a question.all of the staff have the answer. The only issue that we have had was with the stamped concrete company that they recommended. We had some cracks that happened after the first winter, and customer service was far less than satisfactory. I would look elsewhere for that.

We have used Vernon Poolman for many years and have had great service and experience. We never feel pressured in buying chemicals and have always tried to steer us into an environmentally friendly option. We have used for pool opening and closing. As with any pool, winters in Connecticut do cause issues and Vernon Poolman is quick in recognizing problems and assisting in preventing future failures. Our pool is over twenty years old and continues to run and look great. We trust Vernon Poolman and will continue to do all of our business with them.

Used to be good - now untrustworthy. We've used Vernon Poolman for the past few years to open and close our pool and do occasional repairs. However, after this experience, we will never use them again. This year we scheduled the opening as usual. The crew showed up and removed the water bags from the sides of the pool and then put a pump in the middle of the cover to remove the excess water (Problem #1 - shouldn't have removed the water bags first).

Then they left. They came back an hour or so later to check on the pump, and I went out to talk to them. They asked if I could watch the pump for them and turn it off when done so they could go take care of other jobs. I agreed, but said I had to leave in under an hour, which they said should be about right. I unplugged the pump before I left, which still had about half the pool cover to drain.

When I got back, the weight of the pump had dragged the pool cover off part of one side and into the pool, of course adding a ton more water to the cover. I moved the cover back to the side and weighted it down, then plugged in the pump again. Oh, and it was raining off and on, so that of course added water back to the pool cover too. The crew came back once briefly to check on it and left without saying anything.

Never returned, never called. By 7 p.m., our pool still was not opened as scheduled, so we called and got voicemail and left a message and finally unplugged the pump again. My husband got a message on the way to work this morning saying that in order to remove the water from the pool cover so they didn't have to dump the leaves in the pool, it would be an extra $200!

We called back and although he said it was "his fault" for not calling us the day before to tell us that, he was totally unapologetic about charging extra for what they already spent all day doing yesterday (without ever saying there would be an extra charge). Then he tried to tell us that our (brand new) pool cover had holes in it (it does not) and said that's why it took so long to drain the water (um, no, that was because your crew took the water bags off first and it got dragged under water).

He got very angry and defensive with my husband for saying the extra charges were unreasonable and claimed he was "just trying to do things right" because he'd "gotten complaints about his crew before, " and was not at all apologetic that our pool never got opened on the day it was scheduled to be opened. I don't know what about not fulfilling contracted services and trying to pull bait and switch services for things you already were doing (and frankly, which I was mostly doing, since I was the one running the pump and fixing the cover for them) is "doing things right" in his eyes, but I can see why they've "gotten complaints before" and I certainly won't be using their company again.
