Kenny, Tony, and the team are excellent! I recently purchased a property with a 15+-year-old pool. They have done excellent work repairing plumbing and ensuring our water is crystal clear. Friendly staff in both Warrenton & Culpepper offices too!

The staff is always very polite and ready to help you. If you ask someone a question they don't know the answer to, they will find someone who can answer the questions.

My pool water became a disaster because of the improper diagnosis given to me from Payne Pools. For five weeks I dealt with the female manager. She was snotty. She did not know how to clear up the water. Five visits later she blew up yelling that I needed new equipment. Yet it is all new. She had never seen my filter system. It is new and works fine.

She did not know what she was doing and blamed everything on the equipment She asks irrelevant questions about your pool or your techniques so they have something to blame a bad result on you for doing something wrong. I went to another pool service and they said she prescribed the wrong chemicals and the wrong procedures. They had it cleared up in a week. Payne Pools refuses to admit their mistakes; they get mean and vicious if you dispute them or even ask questions.

If you call in and leave a message you get no response. If you call the owner of Payne they pass the buck to the obnoxious manager. They can accept no responsibility for their mistakes; they think they make no mistakes, can do no wrong, and are to pig-headed to listen; always defending themselves with your mistakes. You have no opportunity to discuss an issue and no attempt can be made to rectify a situation.

Then they threaten to not service your pool any longer. Take the threat-you are better off. Bottom line they don't care about their customers, they only care about selling their wares. I will never do business at Payne Pools again.

The place has always been helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to our pool. We have a salt pool which everyone else says it is a haslte to deal with and test. They help us keep our chemicals in balance and we get to enjoy our pool more. Melissa and crew are the ones i go to when i need my pool issues addressed.

Frustrated and annoyed- My family and I just moved to Warrenton and were excited to have our first pool. We had been enjoying the pool and waterfall for two short weeks and everything was working well and pool had been fun and enjoyable. My wife went to Payne pools to have the water tested just to make sure everything was OK. They immediately told her she needed to buy and use $180 worth of chemicals and gave her instructions to put it all into the pool.

Now the pool is terribly clouded (can't see through it) and waterfall has stopped working and everything seems clogged and broken. The pool was working great until we decided to trust these folks and all was fine prior to them up selling us unneeded chemicals and essentially a huge bag of baking soda telling us to add chemicals to both lower and then raise the PH.

They're closed on Wednesdays so i can't even get anyone on the phone to help us. I have to now call American Pool Services and hope they can help us. Terrible experience with Payne pools.

I've had a serious pool problem this year and they have been outstanding. Melissa really knows her stuff and has helped me tremendously. I've also dealt with the people in the Culpeper store and they couldn't be more kind or more helpful.

I was very disappointed initially when Payne Pools & Spas did not show on the day of our appointment. We called several times asking when they would be there only to be assured they will be there, until finally they called after 5 PM and said they would not be coming. They called back the next morning and said the crew was on the way. wish they would have told us that the previous day but once they did get there Chaz was very helpful and knowledgable when opening the pool.

They algae was very bad in the pool but they had it well on its way by the time they left in just over an hour. I took the pool water sample into the Culpepper store the next day and the staff there was very nice and promptly tested the water and suggested it needed another shock treatment. Bottom line, the first day was not handled well but the service and treatment I received the next two days earned my business back.

Unresponsive. Unfriendly. Website misrepresents business culture. False advertising. VP said in an email: "Dennis - Thank you for contacting Payne Pools & Spas concerning your pool problems. I went to Payne pools to buy a part for my pool. I let them know I was had just put a liner in and was going to fill the pool and needed this part for my pump to run. They looked the part up online and I listened to what they were looking up. They made me put half down on the part to order it. They told me they could have it in by the end of the week.

Almost two weeks later, I am waiting on the part, my pool water is getting green because I am having to hand treat it, no pump running, and on top of everything else, I looked the part up online once I knew what it was, and they charged me more than double what I could get it for online. I am super disappointed in their service and mark up!
