Unfortunately, I am unable to give Hatteras Pools a zero star since that what's truly deserved. We went under contract with Hatteras Pools 9/28/2021 and Hatteras Pools was paid a $25,000 deposit. There has been nothing but issues every since. Since then, they have been paid about another additional $38,000 and have more pending payments but only continually to provide poor workmanship and damages to my property and only promise to correct the issues but doesn't just to keep getting money for work not done correctly the first time. Hatteras Pools has damaged or poorly installed: my concrete driveway in four sections at about 800 square feet which cannot be repaired and must be replaced which was estimated at $7 square foot causing at least $5600 damage.

They installed crooked steps, installed uneven retaining wall sides, failed to put enough gravel between the retaining wall blocks, failed to glue all the retaining wall top caps, left excess grout on several places smeared on top of the travertine, set the pool in the excavation uneven, installed the concrete pool deck incorrectly causing one section to drain water into the pool instead of the water running towards the drain in one section, once concrete section of the concrete pool deck holds water and doesn't drain properly when it rains, there is concrete splatter on the side of the house from pouring concrete and was never removed, the drainage solution installed holds water and doesn't drain properly, and they left two piles of dirt in visible view in back of my property that wasn't smoothed out or hauled away, there is gelcoat cracks in the coating of the pool already, they used my personal water to finish filling up the pool for up to 3 foot of water and I was never reimbursed, they damaged the insulation under backflow cover to turnoff the irrigation when they broke it, the pool pump will not stay because the circuit breaker keeps tripping, and the Final Electrical inspection was never called in even though it was part of the initial $25,000 deposit paid.

And none of these items has been resolved. Hatteras Pools workers cleaned their construction tools in my pool, they had dirt in the pool, gravel, trash and debris turning the water brownish green and they didn't even run power to the pool pump for about 2 months, causing me to constantly remove accessible trash and debris out the pool personally and then end up having to pay $700 for a pool cleaning. Hatteras Pool didn't reimburse me for that either because they said they do not clean pools because they are not in the pool cleaning business.

There was no communication from Hatteras Pools between 12/6/21-2/22/22 until I paid an overdue 90-day late balance they had resulted in an active account tied to my address with Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement in which I paid for $400.06 on 2/21/22. I was not even reimbursed for their unpaid collection bill. When they found out likely on 2/22/22 that I paid their bill, Hatteras Pools reached back out only to ask for more money, and not resolve any of the issues dating back to October 2021 associated with the $25,000 deposit paid, nor correcting issues associated with the additional $38,000 paid, nor correcting issues on work that followed that also has poor workmanship with pending payments. And this project is not even compete yet. Photos coming soon.

Unfortunately, I wish I had done more research on Hatteras Pools because every complaint on here is exactly what I've been dealing with. My family and I had our pool installed almost a year ago, and we have had the WORST experience during and after with Hatteras Pools. I had to start contacting the owner, Joe Biron, because his partner, Paul, started to ignore us as soon as they dropped our pool in.

I will say that the communication between themselves and their clients is completely terrible! I have text messages from Joe (the owner) that state issues with my travertine (cracked and broken), hooks being installed in my concrete for winterizing and covering, and mesh cover that was promised to us from the start (in our contract) was being ordered, scheduled, and handled by Paul.

For months I have text messages going back and forth with Joe for these things along with a few minor issues that we have learned to live with because all we keep getting are excuses. I finally got a message from Paul almost a year later stating he has NOT ordered or scheduled anything that Joe promised me he was handling until he gets final payment.

Now remember, I have paid over 75% of the total cost and was told until 100% of everything on the contract was done, DO NOT release final payment. I see why. Everything I mentioned above is either on my contract, or on my messages from Joe that they were getting handled, ordered, and scheduled by Paul. Here is what was promised to me and want done.

I will not accept anything less. 1. Cracked and broken travertine fixed as promised by Joe. 2. Hooks installed in my concrete for cover that is in my contract and should've been done 60 days after concrete was poured. 3. Safety mesh cover for pool that is in my contract and was told multiple times it was ordered and only taking long because everything's on back order. As a person also in charge of day to day operations, I find it unprofessional that this company does not honor contracts and promises!

If you are looking for a good quality pool, Hatteras is the way to go! We are more than pleased with the outcome of our install. Joe was very informative and helped us make a great decision on design. Paul has been super helpful and understanding throughout the entire process. We tend to be somewhat picky and of course had anxiety and were anxious at times as this is a huge investment.

He was always comforting and went above and beyond to meet our needs. Since we knew our install would occur late fall we went ahead and purchased a heater. Little did we know that Paul got us the premo top of the line one that not only heats the pool but also will cool the pool in the Summer! Now we can use the pool year round! BIG THANKS to Joe and Paul!

We recently had a pool installed by Hatteras pools. We love our pool. Its beautiful! The workers that came out were super professional, did a good job, and were quick. The value that Hatteras offers is excellent. Other pool companies were double the price. Our only issue we had was communication. It felt like we had to pull teeth at time to get them to respond to us.

When they were responsive our interactions with them was fine. I wish that Joe had been more thorough in showing us how to care for the pool. I felt like it was super rushed. We still aren't sure how to winterize the pool and our questions have gone unanswered. I do recommend using them - just know that communication could be a little lacking.

Critical: Quality, Responsiveness the concrete on our 2 year old pool is falling in, we have contracted Joe on SEVERAL occasions with no resolve. he did have a contractor come out a year ago and patch it, well 3 months later the same areas and more started falling in again. I do not recommend this company. Paul Hartleb, Fort Mill, SC

Hatteras pools were the best! Joe was honest and very helpful throughout our experience. His pools are of the finest fiberglass and filtration system available. Herman was extraordinary! He was so meticulous in his preparedness! Just professional through and through. Elmer and his concrete team really finished off the pool so beautifully, we were extremely pleased. At an affordable price, Hatteras is the ONLY pool company everyone should use.

Extremely pleased with the results of our pool! The install from start to finish was 2 weeks. Paul was professional, responsive and patient and managed our project very well, even with my high expectations!

Poor product quality. Spider cracks, cobalting and surface flaking from day 1. Customer service was terrible and blamed others for manuf defects In 2005 we had a new home built in Corolla, NC by Mancuso Dev. The Home included a "new" Hatteras fiberglass pool. Upon start up of the pool we noticed spider cracks, chips, cobalting and flaking of the bottom surface.

Our home developer refused to follow up this issue and referred us to the Hatteras Pool rep, Joe Barrow. After several calls we finally got this rep to come out in the spring of 2006. He blamed the cobalting and flaking on pool maintenance despite the fact that out maintenance company was handing similar pools for years without issue. The spider cracks were explained as a normal part of manufacturing if the pool got stuck in the mold and had to be "hit with a hammer" to get it out.

The chips were fixed. Rather than getting involved with a legal battle we decided to live with the pool as best we could. Now after 12 years we decided to have the pool resurfaced with a new product. Once emptied it was determined that the pool bottom had been "painted" with a marine paint which is what we saw as flaking (there was even a ring from a paint can left on the bottom).

There were also previous repairs, and extreme blistering in the gel coat found. What is obvious is that this pool which was sold to us as new was defective and cosmetically repaired from the beginning. The attempt on the part of the manufacturer was, at best, disingenuous. They are not reputable or honest. We do not expect any financial remuneration but do hope others will see this and think twice about buying a Hatteras Pool.

We could not be more pleased with our Hatteras Pool experience. All the workers were so professional and enjoyable. Our pool is so easy to keep clean and quite a lot more cost efficient than other pools we've owned. From sales to installation to service to quality, Hatteras Pools has it covered. Thank you Hatteras Pools.
