My neighbors are building a pool. Earlier this week they had the gunite applied to the pool. The truck left several large puddles of an oily substance. We live at the bottom of the culdesac where kids play in the street, people rides bikes, etc. I went to City Hall and got a copy of the permit which listed Harbour pools as the builders. I called and the next day got a call back from Kyle.
He told me he would be out that day to clean up the mess. I had already bought a large container of sand to absorb the oils. So people would make a much bigger mess or track the oil base into there homes. Kyle promised he would personally clean it up. 48 hours later, no change. A few minutes after this post. Someone showed up and cleaned anything I missed. Again, I reached out to Kyle and recieved the same empty promises.
So I spent an hour today, cleaning up there mess. I imagine this same vehicle is leaving these messes at all there job sights. Hire a pool company that does what they promise.

Harbour Pools is amazing- the final product of a full back yard and front yard remodel makes our house almost unrecognizable from where we started. We completely gutted the back yard to add a pool, fire pit and BBQ Island. Kyle worked very closely with me to have everything custom and everything the way I wanted- when I trusted him to make a judgement on on an element- it turned out better than I could have imagined!
After completing the back yard, we were so pleased, we had him do a full remodel of our front yard- driveway, entry way, gates and landscaping. It all turned out better than I imagined. We highly recommend his work, his crew are all great and prices are fair!

Working with HARBOUR pools was an extremely disappointing experience. While we are very happy with the outcome of the pool, the rest of the project left us very unsatisfied. Working with Kyle was extremely frustrating. While he was always "available" and only a phone call away, getting on the same page with him was terribly exhausting. Our concrete patio --which other than the pool is the focal point of our back yard is very flawed in many areas and while we understand (now) that concrete has a tendency to crack, the last thing we expected was it to happen only days after it was poured. Yes. Days. Kyle did not share with us any information about concrete and the negatives about concrete before we decided to go with it--including its almost certainty of cracking). Had he done this, we would have made a different decision had we known this information ahead of time.
As our contractor, we had a reasonable expectation for him to share this with us. It's been 2 months since the concrete was poured and there are 6 visible cracks. Unacceptable by anyone's standard and Kyle can't seem to understand why this would bother us. Also, one of the main reasons we chose to hire HARBOUR Pools was bc Kyle told us ALL the work was done in house and he didn't sub contract it out.
This was NOT the case. Our cement patio and our pool plaster were performed by people Kyle hired and NOT employees of his company. This was totally misleading and we believe intentional to gain our business. This prevented us from bidding the work (outside of the pool build) out to make sure we were getting a fair deal. We had a great feeling about Kyle when we hired him.
He seems very accommodating and helpful as we determined the size and shape of our pool and the layout of our yard. But slowly as the project moved on, Kyle was very forgetful, wasn't prepared, (asked the same questions over and over to us) and overall we feel was not open to any feedback we gave him during the project. There were hidden costs as well.
For example, our contract included white plaster. We had explained to Kyle upon the first meeting with him that we wanted to have a dark blue water color rather than turquoise We decided we wanted a gray color plaster to achieve a darker pool water color. It was only at the time of the plaster pour did he tell us the upgrade would be $500 additional.
I was very upset that it was not made clear UPFRONT that there would be a $500 charge for changing the color. The decision to upgrade was made approximately 1 month or more before the plaster was laid and never was there any discussion around $500 more. I would not recommend HARBOUR Pools to anyone I know as our experience was very very poor from about week 3 on.
We even considered ending the contract with HARBOUR after the pool was built and before the rest of the project was started (patio, fire pit, island) but we decided to stay loyal and continue on with them.

We started our pool project with a set of plans and interviewed multiple contractors. Out of the field of companies, Harbour Pools (we worked with Kyle) was the most professional and responsive. Their bid was the most complete and thorough and gave us the numbers how we requested. A majority of the other contractors didn't listen to what we wanted in the interview (which is a warning sign) and submitted bids that were sub-par in comparison.
Although Harbour Pools was not the lowest, we found their price to fair and reasonable. Our project took the standard twelve weeks with some tweaking and finish work after. The quality of the tradesmanship was excellent. Urbano, the mason, did fantastic work. Kyle did an outstanding job in managing the project and was extremely helpful in assisting us in refining and realizing our vision.
His ability to communicate and respond in a timely manner made the project a lot less stressful for us. Putting in a pool and hardscaping is a major and expensive project with a lot of give and take throughout the process. Harbour Pools worked with us and negotiated openly and fairly on the many change orders (which every project will have) and revisions to the original plans.
In our dealings with Harbour Pools and the Ketland Family (owners), we found them to be honest and fair people and a pleasure to do business with. Their main concern was making sure that we were happy with our pool, which we are. Our backyard turned out just as we wanted. I strongly recommend Harbour Pools.

Carl is amazing to work with! He's honest, has a team that does quality work, and his time and cost estimates are on target. He is always responsive and I really appreciate the advice he gave me on how to stay within budget. We worked with him on replastering and tiling our pool as well as a backyard remodel.

First, I emailed this company to request a bid. Then, since after a couple of weeks from not hearing back from them, I called them and left them a voice mail msg to call me to set up an appt for a bid, I never heard back. Their phone always goes to voice mail. Who knows maybe they're not open for business. Either way, I'm including my review of ONLY contacting them and receiving no response/call back.

Some Green Initiative Harbour Pools was "subcontracted" by Gill Hardscape (see my review of them). They installed "pour in place" coping for the pool, a water supply pipe, and a replacement pool light. Understanding the drought problem in CA, they developed a system to eliminate draining the entire pool. It was the first time that they did this, and there was a lot of learning and experimentation required.
The end product was exactly what we wanted. We needed to call them back to remove the tape residue from the tile (used to hold a tarp that collected all the debris instead of letting it fall into the pool). Carl is the president, and Urbano has the very efficient working team. At the end of their job, we only needed to top up the pool, instead of refilling a 30,000 gallon hole.

When we (my wife and I) were making home improvements/additions to our home, we were fortunate to have been referred to Harbour Pools by a neighbor. These guys are fantastic! It was great working with Kyle and Carl to customize a pool for our backyard. We had a definite vision of what we wanted in terms of materials and add-ons, and they definitely worked with us in terms of budget and scheduling. They were fast - and we had a pool for the "dog days of summer." Thanks, guys!
